Versurile uneia dintre cele mai frumoase rugaciuni din lumea anglo-saxona, Amazing Grace, au fost scrise la sfarsitul anilor 1700 de englezul John Newton, care a trait la randul sau parabola fiului risipitor. Cantata si astazi in bisericile de peste ocean, Amazing Grace a fost inregistrata de cateva dintre cele mai mari voci, de la Aretha Franklin, la Mahalia Jackson, la Elvis Presley.
